Osric Chau is a Chinese-Malaysian Canadian actor, producer, and filmmaker whose career spans more than two decades across film, television, and the evolving creator economy. Born and raised in Vancouver, he began as a martial artist and stunt performer before transitioning into a leading-man career that has made him a recognizable face to global genre and family audiences.
Entertainment speaker Osric Chau is best known for his fan-favorite role as Kevin Tran across six seasons of The CW’s Supernatural, a part that turned him into a fixture of one of television’s most devoted fan communities. He went on to play Ryan Choi, also known as The Atom, in the DC Arrowverse’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, becoming the first Asian American superhero on American television. He later became one of the first Asian leading men in a Hallmark film with Christmas at the Golden Dragon, and starred in Hallmark+’s first original Christmas series, Holidazed, continuing to expand Asian representation in mainstream romantic and family storytelling.
His broader screen work includes Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Nancy Drew, The Flash, Superhost, the Canadian drama Blood and Water (for which he earned a Leo Award), the independent feature Empty by Design, and recent ensemble projects such as Worth the Wait and Influencers.
Beyond acting, Osric has produced independent feature films and continues to develop television, film, and digital projects across North America and Asia. His producing debut, Empty by Design, premiered as the closing-night film at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and his directorial short Good News premiered at the Austin Film Festival. His work consistently champions globally minded stories, Asian and underrepresented leads, and new business models that help independent creators build sustainable careers.
As a speaker, Osric Chau offers a rare perspective shaped by years inside fan culture, the international convention circuit, indie filmmaking, and the creator economy. He speaks on fandom as a creative and economic force, representation beyond visibility, the rise of mobile-first and social-native storytelling, and how artists, brands, and organizations can build durable, multi-platform careers by combining craft, community, and entrepreneurship.
Drawing on decades inside one of television's most devoted fan ecosystems, Osric explores why fandom has become one of the most powerful forces in modern business, culture, and brand-building. He shows how organizations can move from broadcasting at audiences to building real relationships with them, turning customers, employees, and stakeholders into engaged communities that fuel loyalty, advocacy, and growth.
True representation is not just about who appears on screen, but about who gets to greenlight, produce, and own the story. Osric shares lessons from his journey from working actor to producer and entrepreneur, breaking down what it takes for underrepresented creators to move from being cast in someone else's vision to building their own platforms, IP, and businesses.
The screens that matter most are increasingly the ones in our pockets. Osric examines how vertical video, short-form storytelling, and social-first platforms are rewriting the rules of entertainment, marketing, and audience-building. Audiences leave with a clearer picture of where attention is moving and how leaders can adapt their content, brands, and creative strategy accordingly.
From stunts to acting, from television to producing, from legacy Hollywood to the creator economy, Osric has reinvented his career multiple times without losing his identity. This keynote offers a practical framework for navigating change with clarity, applicable to professionals, teams, and organizations facing disruption.
With a career spanning North America and Asia, Osric explores how the most successful modern stories are designed to cross borders from day one. He shares what global audiences respond to, where cross-cultural co-productions are creating new opportunities, and how brands and creators can build IP and narratives that translate across markets without losing authenticity.
