Currently, speaker Luis Alberto Moreno serves as Managing Director at Allen & Co. LLC, a New York–based private investment bank, a role he has held since February 2021. Previously, he led the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB) for 15 years as President and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors. During this time, he strengthened the institution by optimizing capital use, expanding its private sector arm (IDB Invest) and innovation platform (IDB Lab), and integrating gender equality and diversity goals across public and private programs. Moreover, he accelerated the adoption of technology and innovation while steering the IDB’s rapid and large-scale response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Earlier in his career, Moreno served as Colombia’s Ambassador to the United States from 1998 to 2005. In that role, he advanced bipartisan cooperation and led key bilateral initiatives, including Plan Colombia, focused on combating drug trafficking and supporting economic and social recovery. Before that, he was Colombia’s Minister of Economic Development and a strategic advisor to major private sector organizations.
Beyond his executive roles, Moreno remains deeply engaged in global leadership. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the World Economic Forum, is a member of the International Olympic Committee, and supports environmental initiatives through the Latin American Conservation Council. He also advises Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy and sits on the boards of Coca-Cola FEMSA and Nubank.
