Speaker Joerg Wuttke is a Partner at DGA–Albright Stonebridge Group, a founding member of the DGA Group, based in Washington, D.C. A prominent business leader and one of the most respected experts on Europe-China trade and investment, Mr. Wuttke brings decades of strategic insight and global experience to his clients.
At DGA–Albright Stonebridge Group, he helps multinational companies navigate complex geopolitical and business environments. With a deep understanding of global markets and regulatory frameworks, he guides organizations in shaping resilient strategies and identifying new growth opportunities in times of change and uncertainty.
Before joining the firm in 2024, Mr. Wuttke spent 27 years as Chief Representative of BASF China, where he oversaw investment strategies, led negotiations for major industrial projects, and managed the company’s high-level government relations. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at ABB, focusing on the development and financing of large-scale projects across China, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Russia.
Mr. Wuttke has dedicated his career to fostering strong business relationships between Europe and China. He served three terms as President of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China, most recently from 2019 to 2023. He also sits on the Supervisory Board of Robert Bosch Internationale Beteiligungen AG and has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Mercator Institute for China Studies since 2013.

Amid rising populism and geopolitical fragmentation, European companies operating in China face a shifting terrain. Jörg Wuttke will explore how Chinese domestic priorities, regulatory pressures and global backlash are reshaping access, competitiveness and strategy for European firms. He will highlight concrete case-studies, adaptation strategies and the risks of standing still as China pivots — offering actionable insights for business leaders navigating this era of uncertainty.
Drawing on over 30 years in China — from representing BASF to leading the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China — Jörg Wuttke will unpack what it really takes to negotiate successfully in the People’s Republic of China. He will examine how culture, strategy and regulatory dynamics converge in deal-making: when to push, when to pause; how to interpret silence; and how to align your Western approach with Chinese expectations for long-term success.
With global supply-chain disruption, shifting trade alliances and rising “derisking” talk, investors and companies must rethink their China strategy. In this talk, Jörg Wuttke will analyse the evolving investment landscape from both Western and Chinese vantage points: how to assess China’s overcapacity and structural risks, how to identify real opportunity rather than hype, and how to build resilient, future-proof investments despite the headwinds.
As China balances its domestic slowdown with its ambition for global influence, the implications reach far beyond Asia. Jörg Wuttke offers a candid, insider’s view of how China’s policies, partnerships, and industrial overcapacity are reshaping global trade, supply chains, and sustainability goals. Drawing on decades of high-level engagement with Chinese leaders and multinational corporations, he explains how global firms can interpret Beijing’s economic signals, anticipate the next policy turn, and position themselves strategically in a multipolar world.
