    Alissa Hsu Lynch biography

Leadership speaker Alissa Hsu Lynch has lived in two worlds that rarely meet: the stage and the boardroom. She spent six years touring internationally as a professional modern dancer, then built a 25-year business career at Johnson & Johnson and Google, where she led multi-billion-dollar businesses and built AI partnerships in healthcare. Today she is a corporate board director and the creator of The Leadership Dance, a framework that shows leaders how to balance structure with the freedom to improvise when the choreography changes.

As a senior executive at Johnson & Johnson, Hsu Lynch rose to Worldwide Vice President and led multi-billion-dollar businesses in both MedTech and Consumer, including brands such as Neutrogena and Aveeno. She later served as Head of MedTech Strategy at Google Cloud, building AI partnerships with Fortune 500 healthcare companies. She has lived and worked in Europe, Asia, and the United States, and holds two design patents.

Before business, she performed with the Limón Dance Company and Ralph Lemon’s company on stages including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, and the Cannes Dance Festival.

Board Director, Author, and Columbia Executive in Residence

Hsu Lynch serves on the boards of The Honest Company and Topcon Corporation and on the Board of Trustees of American Ballet Theatre. Directors & Boards named her a Director to Watch, and Women Inc. recognized her among the Most Influential Women Corporate Board Directors. She has also been named a Most Influential Minority Healthcare Executive by Fierce Healthcare and included in the Agenda Diversity 100 by the Financial Times and Equilar.

She is an Executive in Residence at Columbia Business School, a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute, and host of The Leadership Dance podcast, where she has interviewed guests such as Misty Copeland. Her book, The Leadership Dance: Lead with Structure, Move with Freedom, and Thrive Through Change, is published by Wiley. She holds an A.B. in English from Princeton University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

As a speaker, Alissa Hsu Lynch brings a perspective few executives can offer: leadership lessons learned in rehearsal studios and proven in global markets. Her keynotes show leaders when to rely on structure and when to trust their instincts, how to find creative possibility in the messy middle of change, and how to keep organizations moving through disruption and the arrival of AI. Audiences at organizations such as Novo Nordisk and Johns Hopkins leave with practical tools and a clear charge: keep dancing.

    Alissa Hsu Lynch Speaking Topics

Every great performance rests on years of training, clear form, and muscle memory, and that foundation is what makes spontaneity possible. Drawing on her careers as a professional dancer and a Fortune 50 executive, Alissa Hsu Lynch shows that leadership works the same way: too much control and nothing moves, too little and everything falls apart. She walks audiences through three moves: setting the stage with purpose, clarity, and shared values; finding creative possibility in the messy middle of transformation, when the old way no longer works and the new one is not yet clear; and moving with agility between structure and freedom as each moment requires. Leaders leave with a practical way to keep their organizations in motion through disruption.

Today’s careers are fluid and nonlinear, and they reward people willing to bet on what makes them different. Drawing on her own transition from the dance stage to the executive suite, Hsu Lynch shares her Career Choreo framework for redefining success, handling shifts in professional identity with confidence, and designing a career that is both fulfilling and impactful. Organizations come away with a workforce that feels seen, challenged, and motivated to grow, and a stronger ability to keep the talent they have invested in.

Many companies treat AI as a trade-off, assuming that more governance means less innovation and more control means less speed. Hsu Lynch, who built AI partnerships with healthcare leaders at Google Cloud, shows why the opposite is true: clear structure gives teams the confidence to experiment and adopt AI faster. Using the language of rhythm and choreography, she helps leaders set the guardrails that free their people to innovate as AI changes the music.
