Tom Koulopoulos has been reading the future of technology for longer than most futurists have been working. For more than four decades he has sat at the intersection of technology, business, and human behavior, running a think tank, investing in startups, teaching, inventing, and writing fourteen books about where all of it is heading. His particular gift is connecting trends that look scattered and confusing into a picture an audience can actually act on.
Futurist speaker Thomas Koulopoulos is chairman and founder of Delphi Group, the Boston think tank he has led for over 35 years and which Inc. Magazine named one of the fastest-growing private companies in the country. He is also a founding partner of Acrovantage Ventures, backing early-stage companies in the future of work, healthcare, and enterprise technology, a professor at Boston University, and a longtime Inc.com columnist read by more than a million people a year. His latest book, Gigatrends, maps the six technology forces he argues will reshape how billions of people live, work, and compete.
Koulopoulos’s credibility comes from having built things as well as forecast them. He served as Executive Director of the Babson College Center for Business Innovation and Director of the Dell Innovation Lab, holds multiple patents, and has advised organizations across nearly every sector on innovation and digital transformation. He was mentored by Peter Drucker, who considered his work essential reading, and Tom Peters has praised his writing on where enterprises must go to survive. In November 2025 he delivered the keynote at SC25, the Supercomputing Conference, and he hosts the Foresight Radio podcast. His forthcoming book turns to what intelligent machines reveal about our own values and leadership.
As a speaker, Tom Koulopoulos is that rare futurist who is neither breathless nor bleak, and he customizes every talk to the industry in front of him. He speaks on the technology forces reshaping the next decade, what AI learns from human behavior and what that means for trust, the future of work as people and digital workers operate side by side, and how organizations build genuine innovation capacity. Audiences leave with a roadmap rather than a warning, and a view of the future that is realistic and, unusually, hopeful.
Drawing on his latest book, Koulopoulos identifies the small number of technology forces he believes will do the most to reshape business and society, from digital workers and frictionless commerce to the healthcare crisis and the arrival of Generation Alpha. Rather than a parade of gadgets, he takes a behavioral approach, explaining how each force will change what people expect and how organizations must respond, and connects trends that usually get discussed in isolation into a single navigable map.
Koulopoulos argues the most valuable commodity of this century is behavior, ours and that of the machines we build. He explores a near future in which every person and device carries a digital counterpart that may understand us better than we understand ourselves, what that unlocks in collaboration and personalization, and the urgent questions it raises about ownership, privacy, and trust. Timely, unsettling in the right places, and consistently practical.
Organizations are absorbing economic, workforce, and market disruption simultaneously, and Koulopoulos argues the answer is not to endure it but to rethink assumptions about how work gets done. He maps a workplace where humans and digital workers collaborate, examines AI's role in redesigning jobs rather than just automating them, and addresses the practical challenge of leading Gen Z and Gen Alpha. His framing is that uncertainty is where the opportunity sits.
Fast-paced and example-rich, this talk examines how organizations actually change their approach to innovation: learning to fail quickly, building for conditions they cannot yet see, letting go of what previously worked, and questioning received wisdom. Drawing on innovators from Apple and Sony to 3M and NASA, Koulopoulos gives audiences a way to assess their own organization's innovative capacity and specific methods for unlocking the creativity already sitting inside it.
