Speaker Camille François is a leading expert on the intersection of technology, society, and security, with a career dedicated to countering digital harms. Her work explores how state and non-state actors exploit digital platforms, from disinformation campaigns to online harassment, and how innovative strategies can build safer online ecosystems.
Currently, speaker Camille François is Senior Director for Trust & Safety at Niantic, the company behind groundbreaking augmented reality and gaming experiences. She previously served as Chief Innovation Officer at Graphika, where she spearheaded efforts to detect disinformation networks and guided investigations that helped platforms like Facebook, Google, and Pinterest address online threats. Her leadership propelled Graphika onto Fast Company’s list of the world’s most innovative companies.
Camille’s career bridges technology, research, and policy. She has advised governments and legislatures on both sides of the Atlantic—most notably investigating Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections for the Senate Intelligence Committee, and leading France’s inquiry into the opportunities and challenges of the metaverse. At Google, she pioneered new strategies to counter violent extremism online and developed frameworks that shaped global approaches to content moderation. She also co-designed the world’s first bug bounties for algorithmic harms at the Algorithmic Justice League.
A sought-after voice in digital policy, Camille teaches at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and is an affiliate scholar at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center. A Fulbright scholar and Young Leader of the French-American Foundation, she holds advanced degrees from Sciences-Po and Columbia University.
